Joanne Bosanquet
Joanne commenced her first CEO role at the Foundation Of Nursing Studies in May 2019. Joanne brings knowledge and experience from a range of roles in public health, nursing and from her work at national and international level as a system nurse leader, as a Queen’s Nurse and as a visiting professor at the University of Surrey. Joanne was awarded an MBE for services to nursing and healthcare in June 2013, a Fellowship of The Queen’s Nursing Institute and an honorary Doctorate from the University of Greenwich in 2016. Joanne joined Sigma Theta Tau in 2018 and has interests in person-centredness, social determinants of health and wellbeing, health equity and how nurses and midwives can and should be seen as advocates for communities.
Joanne is currently being reverse mentored by an early career RN and mentors a number of aspiring nurse leaders at undergraduate and post graduate level. Joanne is very excited to be supporting the Clinical Supervision Subject Expert Group hosted by the Florence Nightingale Foundation. Joanne is active on social media so say hi! (@MrsBosanquet)
What does clinical supervision for nurses mean to you?
Let’s go up a step and talk about reflective practice. As a graduate profession, nursing and midwifery deserve to have access to a variety of opportunities to reflect, both on their emotional responses to their work and their practice (lifelong professional journeys). Nursing and midwifery are safety critical professions and in order to ensure the very best outcomes and impact of our complex work on communities, reflective or clinical supervision must be included as a ‘given’ in all roles. I am very proud to be part of a once in a career social movement for change.
