Membership of the Academy aims to enable increased access to leadership development and the Florence Nightingale Foundation® community. We create platforms for members to develop, connect, consult, inform, drive and improve services through mobilising their unique knowledge and leadership acumen. Increasingly we have become known as an organisation that provides independent thought leadership on the issues that are critical to nurses and midwives and an organisation that elevates the nursing and midwifery voice to have major influence and impact. Membership of the Academy enables nurses and midwives within your organisation to become part of this influential community.
Membership of the Academy is accessed by the most senior nurse or midwife within your organisation joining as the named member. However, benefits are then available to all student and registered nurses, midwives and nursing associates. We welcome organisations from all sectors providing health and social care. Our current members include Healthcare Trusts, Integrated Care Systems, Military, Charity, Private and Voluntary care providers. We also welcome Higher Education Institutions to join and have developed a specific set of benefits for academics and students.
The Florence Nightingale Foundation® scholarships offer an exclusive and competitive opportunity for leadership development, but this is only available to the few. Membership of the Florence Nightingale Foundation Academy® will enable the benefits of our community to become available to the many. Nurses and midwives within your organisation will join our network to influence and have an impact in their area of expertise.
Membership of the FNF Academy® is open to Chief Nurses/Executive Nurse Directors or the most senior nurse in health, social care and Higher Education Institutions that employ or are involved in the education of nurses and midwives The most “Senior Nurse” is a member on behalf of the organisation’s nurses and midwives. Membership benefits are available to all students and registered nurses and midwives in the member organisation.
As members, you will have the opportunity to become part of the Advisory Group who will communicate regularly with all members. The Advisory Group will set the FNF Academy® agenda and priorities including leadership development and policy issues critical to nursing and midwifery.
A shared decision-making forum comprising of “point of care” nurses and midwives from the member organisation also hold devolved responsibility to provided oversight and operational guidance on the activity of the Academy to ensure membership benefits are aligned with the priorities of the workforce.
We will provide statements to inform you which benefits have been utilised by your organisation. We will also communicate with you regularly through an e-bulletin.
Our membership fee is dependent on the number of nurses and midwives employed or studying in your organisation.
A membership fee shall be payable in April each year. The amount will be reviewed annually by the Foundation. The membership fee is based on tiered membership, banded according to the numbers of Registered Nurses and Midwives or students in each organisation.
