The Florence Nightingale Foundation is pleased to partner with NHS England and NHS Improvement to provide a new and unique blended learning programme. The programme will equip staff within International Nursing and Midwifery Associations (INMAs) with the skills to facilitate a method of peer group coaching known as ‘co-consulting’.
This approach promotes a culture of psychological safety and enables staff within INMAs to support their members in exerting their influence and finding their voice. By developing a network of co-consulting champions within INMAs, we can ensure facilitators are culturally competent and fully aligned with their members’ experiences of transition and adaptation to working within the UK Health and Social care system.
The programme will be available to a cohort of 27 staff within International Nursing & Midwifery Associations (INMAs). A further six cohorts will be provided over a period of 4 years.

What does the programme involve?
Six hours of online learning undertaken over six weeks to prepare INMA staff as co-consulting champions who can facilitate and cascade co-consulting within their network. One x three hours of live co-consulting practice (March 2022) in the form of a virtual facilitated session for the champions to learn and practice skills. Programme Dates:

Eligibility criteria
- A leader/active member within an established International Nursing & Midwifery Association in the UK. This could include roles such as President, Vice-president, Director, Secretary, Co-ordinator, Chairman, Regional representative or a designated active role
- A maximum of two leaders per INMA can apply per cohort
- Current registrant of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Evidence of support from your line manager/sponsor within your employing organisation who can give you permission to fully engage with the programme
