Overview

The Florence Nightingale Foundation along with Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust (RDaSH) are pleased to offer a leadership programme for internationally educated nurses and midwives working at Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust (RDaSH). 

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate enhanced awareness of how personality preferences influence personal effectiveness and performance in teams.  
  • Identify and critically appraise opportunities to influence through personal and collective authority.        
  • Develop strategies to express self in a manner which communicates presence, enables influence, and has impact.  
  • Explore personal resilience and develop tools for staying effective under pressure.   
  • Formulate and put into practice plans which contribute to improved outcomes for patients and staff underpinned by evidence and quality improvement methodology.  
  • Commit to the organisation ethos of Anti-Racism, inclusivity, and compassionate leadership.

Leadership Programme Overview:

Day 1

Personality Preferences and Performance in Teams (Virtual)

Utilising Myer Briggs Type Indictor (MBTI) we will explore how personality preference influence personal leadership styles and how awareness can enable the promotion of high-performing team.

Day 2 and Day 3

Authentic and Inclusive Leadership (Virtual)  

  • Facilitate delegates to build a learning community and a robust network of peer support throughout their programme and beyond. 
  • Define and articulate an authentic leadership signature underpinned by unique values, motivations and a commitment to self awareness.
  • Critically explore the nature of power and its relevance to the professions/healthcare context.
  • Apply methods of engaging others to influence change and forge engagement.
Day 4

Presentation of Self: Presence & Impact – Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (Face to Face)

Practical approaches to developing confidence and clarity in the delivery of key messages for a range of audiences including the media.

Day 5

Preparing for Interviews: Portraying Your Best Self – Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (Face to Face at RDaSH)  

  • Develop a tool-kit of essential skills for being interviewed.
  • Techniques that will enable you to create a confident and credible first impression, whether you are meeting online or in-person.
  • Learn how to structure answers and deliver them in a way that demonstrates your abilities.
  • Tools that you can utilise to stay calm, reduce nerves, and build engagement with your interviewer.
Day 6

Embedding a Coaching Approach (Co-Consulting Facilitation – Virtual)

Participants will learn the method of action learning known as co-consulting. Through the online module and practical live session, participants will have the opportunity to explore the theory, skills and practice this sustainable approach to apply it within their own networks and teams.

Day 7

Celebration event (Face to Face)

An opportunity to network showcase and celebrate the impact of the clinical leaders.

Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the programme you must: 

  • be an internationally educated nurse or midwife.
  • be Band 5 or 6.
  • work at Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust (RDaSH).
