The Florence Nightingale Foundation Annual Conference, 17th & 18th March 2016, London
Thursday 17th and Friday 18th March saw the Sixth Annual Florence Nightingale Foundation Conference take place at the QEII Conference Centre in London. The theme this year was 'Branching Out From Solid Roots', we had a packed two day programme including: Charleen Tachibana , Senior Vice President, Hospital Administrator & Chief Nursing Officer at Virginia Mason Medical Center alongside Matthew Hopkins, Chief Executive, Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust; Sir Sam Everington, GP & Chair, NHS Tower Hamlets Clinical Commissioning Group; Jos De Blok, Founder, Director, and CEO, Buurtzzorg, Netherlands and Sue Owen, Permanent Secretary, Department for Culture, Media & Sport.
A huge range of masterclasses were on offer, covering all areas of practice as well as offering an opportunity to look at other vital skills in the RADA masterclass on 'finding your voice' for example, hosted by Sheelagh McNamara.
Our Leadership Scholars had a chance to meet with colleagues and scholars from previous cohorts, and delegates made the most of the fantastic opportunity to meet and learn with each other. The feedback so far has been outstanding, particularly on social media, some highlights:
"a truly exceptional event"
"I met [so many] and was so grateful to you for giving me the opportunity [to do so]"

The Florence Nightingale Foundation Charity Gala Dinner, 8 Northumberland Avenue
On the evening of the 17th March, the Foundation hosted it's Charity Gala Dinner at 8 Northumberland Avenue- a venue which you can just about see from Nelson's Column in Trafalger Square.
There were over 300 guests who indulged in a Champagne reception, a delicious three course meal (there were lots of empty plates), a raffle, and as if that wasn't enough - lots of dancing.
As you can see from the pictures- The Foundation didn't shy away from a St. Patricks Day theme given the date! There was green lighting at intervals of the evening, green candles, and even Irish themed table confetti. It was also a pleasure to welcome key healthcare leaders over from Ireland to enjoy themselves at the Dinner.
The immediate feedback of the evening is hugely positive:
"Great evening... we all enjoyed ourselves and some of us danced until the end!"
"The Gala dinner was an outstanding occasion "
"The dinner was wonderful and one of the nicest meals I have had"
"Our whole party agreed that both the food and the venue was excellent. We had a lovely time."
