The Florence Nightingale Foundation along with the Department of Health Northern Ireland are pleased to offer a leadership programme to aspiring directors working in Northern Ireland at Band 8b and above.

This new programme will be delivered in line with the Department of Health Northern Ireland’s priorities to provide bespoke and innovative training to ensure the next generation of clinical leaders are accountable, confident, capable and equipped to lead their teams and services with compassion and inclusivity.

Objectives

  • Developing the confidence and capability required to positively influence as visible leaders at all levels.
  • Exploring communication approaches that enable a constructive presence, gravitas and wider impact.
  • Understanding collective authority, accountability, and power to make a clear difference to workforce culture and patient safety.
  • Understanding political influence both within and outside of the organisation.
  • Having a psychologically safe space to facilitate decision-making, hold ambiguity and process tensions.
  • Developing an understanding of quality improvement methodology for instigating, leading, embedding and measuring change within their local environments.
  • Developing critical thinking attributes and a commitment to the value of evidence-based practice.

Applications are now open and need to be submitted by 30 November 2024. This programme is funded by the Department of Health Northern Ireland.
