Research and Policy Associate
Raluca Oaten is a Research and Policy Associate with FNF. She is an MSc Adult Nurse in Intensive Care having qualified from Oxford Brookes University with distinction and 100% in her Master’s Dissertation. Raluca’s nursing background is in Intensive Care, having also achieved her Post Graduate Certificate in Critical Care and continuing to work clinically supporting critically unwell patients.
Raluca’s nursing degree has been an ideal driver for excellence where she developed an interest in research. She completed a Clinical Researcher secondment with Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) / National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) investigating the experience of acutely unwell patients in using remote consultations. Moreover, Raluca held the first Research Champion role in the Intensive Care Unit, supporting discussions of research being imbedded in everyday practice.
Raluca complements her career portfolio by teaching as an Associate Lecturer in Adult Nursing, alongside being a trustee for the Council of Deans of Health, the member charity that represents the voice of higher education institutions which offer healthcare programmes.
Raluca’s commitment to change patient’s experience has been recognised and awarded the Edith Cavell Star Award, and her previous work has been recognised nationally and internationally (finalist for RCNi Award, Student Nursing Times Award and Global Challenge@Said School, University of Oxford).
Raluca joined the Policy and Influencing team at FNF in 2024 and her vision is to support the Foundation’s ambition of raising the voice of the nursing and midwifery professions in influencing policy.
