At the Florence Nightingale Foundation, we know that investing in nursing and midwifery leadership transforms health and care. our latest report shows the difference that confident, compassionate leaders make every day.

FNF champions nurses and midwives across the UK and around the world, equipping them to lead with confidence, compassion, and clarity, wherever they serve. In doing so, we honour the enduring legacy of Florence Nightingale, one of the founders of modern nursing, whose pioneering spirit continues to shape evidence-based care and improved health outcomes

Between April 2024 and March 2025, we equipped over 2,400 nurses and midwives to grow as leaders, from early-career professionals to executive directors, strengthening leadership capacity across the UK and internationally. These nurses and midwives are now driving change in their teams, organisations and communities, improving outcomes for patients and service-users, and shaping the future of health and care.

Membership of our Academy now stands at 117 Chief Nurses, Executive Directors of Nursing and Deans – with our first two international members joining this year. These member opportunities extend to over 240,000 nurses and midwives across their organisations.
