Jay Trondillo is a health and social care leader whose career spans frontline nursing practice, senior operational leadership and service improvement across health and social care. He has held senior leadership roles across complex nursing, residential and dual registered care services, with experience as both a CQC registered manager and Nominated Individual.
Jay began his career as a renal nurse in the Philippines before progressing into senior operational leadership in the UK. His work has focused on governance, regulatory improvement, care quality, and the development of registered managers and care teams across complex services.
He has a particular interest in strengthening the role and visibility of nursing in adult social care. Jay advocates for clearer leadership pathways for nurses working outside traditional acute settings, and for greater recognition of the clinical judgement, complexity and leadership contribution within the care home sector.
In 2025, Jay’s nurse led falls reduction work received the Nursing in Social Care award at the Nursing Times Awards, recognising improvement in resident safety and outcomes. He also writes for academic and professional publications and mentors emerging leaders across health and social care.
Jay holds a PhD, an MBA, master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing, and postgraduate medical education in healthcare leadership from Harvard Medical School. He is also the co-founder of Filipinos in Care, a national initiative supporting internationally educated and ethnically diverse professionals to progress into leadership roles within the care sector.
As a Trustee of the Florence Nightingale Foundation, Jay brings practical board insight into social care nursing, leadership progression and inclusion, shaped by his experience in highly regulated care environments. His journey as an internationally educated nurse informs his commitment to widening leadership opportunities for a more diverse health and social care workforce. He is committed to supporting the Foundation’s work to develop nurses and midwives who can lead, influence practice and improve care.
