We are pleased to invite Chief Nurse Members of the FNF Academy to nominate one individual to join the 2025/26 FNF Fellows Programme – this is a unique opportunity to support the professional development of emerging nurse and midwife leaders.
The Fellow Programme is a fabulous benefit of FNF Academy Membership and one which has made a difference to so many of our past Fellows.
Specifically designed for nurses and midwives who have registered within the past five years, the programme aims to address the leadership development gap that often exists early in careers across health and social care settings.
We encourage Chief Nurses to consider nominating individuals who may not have previously had access to formal development opportunities. This initiative provides a supportive, structured space for new leaders to grow, connect, and reflect.

About the Fellows Programme
Spanning eight months, the FNF Fellows Programme includes a range of learning and engagement activities:
-
Core Learning Events
Live, online sessions led by expert facilitators, covering key areas of leadership and professional development. -
Community of Practice
Fellows will participate in regular online peer sessions and are encouraged to stay connected virtually between events, building a strong, supportive network. -
Reverse Mentoring
Each Fellow will identify a senior leader within their organisation (typically their Chief Nurse or Director of Nursing) to take part in a reverse mentoring relationship, promoting mutual learning and cross-generational insight. -
Ongoing Engagement and Reflection
Fellows may be invited to take part in additional development opportunities during the programme. They will also be expected to author a reflective blog and share insights on social media to document their journey and learning.
This is more than a leadership programme – it’s a platform for growth, connection, and long-term impact.

At the start of the fellowship, it was hard to predict how much I would gain from this opportunity…I think the biggest impact for me is the networking.
