Esme joined Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in June 2021 as Nurse Director for the MSK directorate. Esme joined from Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust where she held the position of Lead Nurse for Surgical Services since 2018.
Prior to this Esme has held several leadership positions in specialities such as critical care and emergency medicine. She has extensive clinical experience in acute and critical care, she remains passionate and dedicated to improving the management of the deteriorating patient.
One of Esme’s career highlights was being appointed as the second Sepsis nurse nationally following her involvement in the NCEPOD just say Sepsis report and with her team became a final shortlist for the 2013 HSJ awards.
Esme graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2009 with a Diploma in Adult Nursing. Committed to professional development Esme went on to obtain a BSc in Nursing and has recently completed her MSc in Healthcare Leadership and Management and passed with a distinction. Esme has been awarded a place on this years Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholarship for seniors leaders and is also proud to be undertaking the CNO Safe Staffing Fellowship too. Esme has committed herself to professional development with the immediate career goal of becoming a Deputy Chief Nurse but also aspires to become the CNO of England in the future.
Esme has publicly represented the nursing profession in several TV broadcasts with BBC news and the ITV Pride of Britain awards. Esme has also been featured in GQ magazine sharing her experience during the COVID19 pandemic.
Esme is proudly a member of the CNO National policy group and strongly believes in collaboration, professional standards and kindness as enablers to lead and support the nursing workforce to deliver excellent patient care.
