Research and Policy Associate

Ashleigh Charles is a Research and Policy Associate with FNF. She is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and is passionate about healthcare and research.

Prior to being a nurse, Ashleigh has been involved in a variety of healthcare related roles which include being a member of the young person’s time to change panel, creating and being part of a peer support group, raising mental health awareness through local and global mental health anti-stigma campaigns, supporting individuals with learning disabilities in the community, and working as a support worker on mental health wards.

Ashleigh is now carrying out research as part of her ESRC-funded PhD at the University of Nottingham, which explores the implementation of peer support worker roles in mental health teams.

Ashleigh is a member of the Recovery Research Team at the University of Nottingham and has contributed to European Union and National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded research projects.
