In April we launched our Legacy of the Lamp campaign, to find as many of the missing names and photographs of Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service Lamp Carriers as possible.

As the campaign continues, we wanted to share the updates we have received to date and to ask if you are still able to help us find any missing names.

We have been lucky enough to be contacted by 2006 Lamp Carrier, Irene Grey (formerly Scott) who we had the name for but no photos. Irene, pictured below, told us:

“Undertaking this duty was without doubt the most wonderful highlight of my career despite holding many years as a Director of Nursing in some remarkable and prestigious establishments.” Professor Irene Grey

We have also heard from Deborah Marriage, who also shared a photograph with us. Deborah was one of the Lamp Escorts in 2009 with Eileen Moir (Lamp Carrier) and Peter Murphy the second Lamp Escort pictured below.

Huge thanks go to all of you who have sent in details to help us complete names and our updated list can be found below. We’d love to hear from more of you!

We’ve also shared some of the photographs of the people we have no names for…yet. If you recognise someone, or can put us in touch with them or with a family member, please do get in touch. Please feel free to share details with your families, colleagues and networks, this could really help us find those we are missing.
