Head of Leadership Development

Debbie Preston is our Head of Leadership Development. She has a strong clinical background in Intensive care nursing, she has experience working as an Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Specialist and an Adult ECMO transport retrieval Nurse at the University Hospitals of Leicester.

She has experience in both adult and paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care settings and has completed PGCE and MSc.

Debbie pursued a role as a Practice Development Sister within Critical Care, before being supported to extend her remit to focus on Clinical Leadership development including trust wide projects supporting; Overseas recruitment and induction, preceptorship, clinical CPD modules with HEIs, and supporting the development of the Professional Nurse Advocacy Service.

She continued to work clinically throughout the COVID 19 pandemic, as a respiratory specialist for Critical Care and High Dependency areas, whilst also continuing her role facilitating clinical leadership development for front line staff in the Trusts School of Nursing.

Debbie is an accredited Leading and Empowered Organisation (LEO) Facilitator and has been praised by the Royal College of Nursing leadership team for continuing to deliver and support clinical leaders with their programmes throughout the pandemic.
