Interim Chair
David Benton comes from the North East of Scotland and completed his RN education in Inverness. He has an MPhil degree on the application of computer assisted learning to post basic psychiatric nurse education from the University of Abertay and his PhD Summa Cum Laude from the University of Complutence Spain, for his groundbreaking work on an international comparison of nursing legislation.
A global expert in nursing and regulation David has advised governments and UN agencies around the world on both nursing legislation and on wider health policy issues. He has been awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Nursing, the American Academy of Nursing and is a Nightingale Foundation scholar recipient and Fellow. David is currently the chief executive officer of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing based in Chicago, USA.
