The Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) has been honoured with the Sigma Archon Award in recognition of its lasting impact on the nursing profession and global health.
The award was presented at Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing’s biennial convention in the United States, where FNF’s Chief Executive Officer, Professor Greta Westwood CBE, RN, PhD accepted the award on behalf of the charity from Sigma’s Board of Directors.
Professor Westwood said: “I’m deeply honoured and truly moved to accept the Sigma Archon Award on behalf of nurses, and midwives, everywhere…. To Sigma, to Sigma Board, thank you for seeing the work of the Florence Nightingale Foundation, for recognising that our nursing and midwifery leadership development is not only vital, it’s truly transformative.”
Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) is a global nonprofit organisation dedicated to developing nurse leaders to improve healthcare everywhere. Founded in 1922, Sigma now has more than 100,000 active members and 600 chapters at institutions of higher education and healthcare partners.
Through its Board Awards and International Awards for Nursing Excellence, Sigma recognises outstanding nurses, healthcare professionals and global partners from around the world. Nearly 2,000 nurse leaders representing more than 50 countries attended the recent biennial convention.
