Help us to support nurses and midwives who care for you.

Jacqueline is an alumna of the Florence Nightingale Foundation and raising £1000 by running the Virgin Money Giving London Marathon on the 4th of October. Please read Jacqueline’s story below and support her appeal.

“I have been lucky enough to secure a place in the VMG London Marathon.  It’s such a special event in London’s calendar and even more so this year. Along with the London Marathon celebrating its 40th anniversary, it’s Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday! The World Health Organisation has designated 2020 as the year of the nurse and midwife! So what better way to celebrate by running in the London Marathon and running for the Florence Nightingale Foundation!

The Foundation’s principal focus is on improving health, clinical outcomes and patient experience, through building nursing and midwifery leadership. The Foundation provides bespoke leadership development opportunities for nurses through its scholarship programme. I have been fortunate enough to have received both a research and leadership scholarship from the Foundation. The scholarships enabled me to complete my doctoral studies, which looked at what was important to patients in making them feel safe whilst in hospital.  The findings will be used to help support staff in making improvements for patients.  I would not have been able to complete my doctorate without the support of the Foundation.  So naturally, I decided to run for the Foundation. My fundraising target is £1000. Please give what you can for this wonderful organisation, which helps nurses to make a difference to patients and healthcare!” – Dr Jacqueline Sinclair
