Trustee

Since 2003 Melloney Poole has been working as a charity and public administrative law lawyer, following 25 years of high value and complex private sector commercial and corporate experience. She became the Head of Legal Department for the National Lottery Charities Board in 2003 and then developed the cross-distributor Legal Services Department which supported all the legal and governance matters for the Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund and for which Melloney was awarded an OBE for legal and governance services in 2011.

In June 2015 Melloney was asked by the Ministry of Defence to set up and run their new Armed Forces Covenant Fund. This supports the delivery of the Armed Forces Covenant across the UK and is now an independent charitable trust and NDPB. Melloney has recently become one of the founding Directors of the new charity and the Vice-Chair, Invictus UK 2027 in order to deliver the Invictus Games in Birmingham in 2027.

In addition, Melloney has had the privilege of a parallel career as a non- executive Director and Chair in the NHS, serving on the boards of four NHS Trusts including serving for the last seven years as the Chairman of both Portsmouth Hospitals University Trust and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
