Florence Nightingale Bicentenary

How will you #GoWithTheFlo this year?

This year we will mark the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale and we want you all to get involved in the celebrations!

We have a series of events lined up over the coming months at which you can fundraise and get fit at the same time. You can take part in runs, walks, test your strength by doing the Tough Mudder course or take in the beautiful sights on a walk to Lea Hurst, Florence’s childhood home.

This is our year to celebrate all that was great about Florence, as well as the nurses and midwives she inspired to follow in her footsteps. We are continuing her legacy empowering and developing nursing and midwifery leaders to improve patient and health outcomes through our scholarships. Your support and funds raised will ensure that we continue her legacy, developing the very best of the NHS and all healthcare.

If you are interested in an event below, you can register your interest by clicking on the relevant page in the left menu. For more information, do get in touch: [email protected]

"I want people to know that Florence Nightingale was more than a nurse who carried a lamp, not to detract from the comfort this brought so many wounded soldiers in the dead of the night, but that she was a statistician, a suffragette, a public health reformer, a woman who defied the patriarchy and saw the world for all the opportunities it offered. She is rightfully the face of modern nursing and I want her name and our name to be on everyone’s lips during 2020 and beyond."
