The Sub-Dean and Canon Treasurer very much looks forward to welcoming you to Westminster Abbey. Please be advised of the below Service details:
What to Bring
To gain entry to the event, you must bring:
- Your ticket or e-ticket* (sent by email)
- Photo identification
*Please note that guests seated in the lanterns and quires will have a printed ticket whilst guests seated in all other areas will receive an electronic ticket. Please be prepared to present your ticket physically or on a mobile device. Tickets are not transferrable.
Entry
Doors will open at 5.15pm and we ask that you are seated by 6.15pm. Late-comers will be directed for entry via the Cloisters. You may be asked to go through a bag search, so please arrive in good time to allow for this and where possible keep personal belongings to a minimum. There is no cloakroom facility.
Please enter the Abbey via the Great West Door on the Broad Sanctuary (map below).
Dress Code
- Smart (no hats)
- Medals and decorations may be worn
- National dress is optional for international guests
- Uniformed nurses and midwives in the processions to wear uniform
- Uniform for nurses and midwives not in the procession is optional
Special Collection
Whilst tickets for this wonderful event are free, the Florence Nightingale Foundation relies on external funding to support our vital work. Please kindly donate to our Florence Nightingale Commemoration Campaign; your generosity will play a crucial role in preserving the legacy of Florence Nightingale for future generations to support and develop nurses and midwives to promote health, improve care and save lives across the world. There will also be a cash collection for the Florence Nightingale Foundation during the service.
Accessibility
The Abbey has disabled ramp access via the Great West Door and there is also flat access via the Great North Door. There is a disabled toilet facility in the Cloisters. If you have particular needs that require further assistance, please email [email protected]
Privacy
Unofficial photography and the use of mobile phones or sound recording equipment is not permitted during the service. The Service will be live streamed and will be available via the Florence Nightingale Foundation website for 30 days after the event.

I have lost or forgotten my Entrance Ticket. What should I do?
If you have lost/forgotten your Entrance Ticket, please inform us as soon as possible via email to: [email protected] . If you arrive without your ticket (electronic ticket or physical ticket), please visit the Enquiry Point on the Broad Sanctuary.
I am no longer able to attend the service, what should I do?
If you are no longer able to attend, please update your RSVP via the ‘Manage RSVP’ link in your confirmation email or email [email protected].

Getting to the Abbey
Public transport is advised. The nearest Underground stations are St James’s Park (District and Circle Lines) and Westminster (Jubilee, District and Circle Lines), approximately a ten-minute walk to the entry point the Great West Door in front of the Abbey. The following buses stop near to the Abbey: 11, 88, 148.
