The Florence Nightingale Foundation is delighted to welcome Abigail Masterson as our new Deputy Chief Executive. Abi qualified as a nurse in Edinburgh in 1986 and has held clinical, education and research posts in organisations including St Bartholomew’s Hospital, the Royal College of Nursing and the University of Bristol, and the Health Foundation. Abi has been working as an independent consultant since 1998 undertaking work for a wide range of organisations including government departments of health, regulatory bodies and professional associations.
Abi has both a bachelors and Masters Degree in nursing, is currently completing a professional doctorate at Ashridge Business School, and has a varied list of publications particularly in the areas of new role development and nursing and health policy.
Abi said “I have long admired the work of the Foundation and feel extremely privileged to be joining the team. I am a nurse to my core and am passionate about the nursing and midwifery contribution to health and well-being. The Florence Nightingale Foundation plays an invaluable role in developing nurses and midwives at all levels from the front-line to the Board. I look forward to working with Professor Robb and the Trustees to continue to increase the Foundation’s activity, engagement, reach and impact”
